Trace Lofts, currently home to Tavern Law, will soon be the newest location for Barre3. Barre3 is an exercise developed by Portland resident Sadie Lincoln. It incorporates ballet barre work, yoga and Pilates. We contacted Caroline Weiner, the Capitol Hill Studio Manager and asked her to tell us about Barre3:
I discovered barre3 about 2 years ago. I fell in love with it, and became a founding instructor at the Portland flagship studio in the Pearl District when it opened in August of 2008. I have since become a global master trainer for barre3. My husband and I moved to Seattle 8 months ago, where I teamed up with Heather Kass and Anna McEvers to open studios in Seattle and Bellevue!
We asked Weiner why she and her partners chose Capitol Hill:
Having grown up in Capitol Hill, I feel connected to the neighborhood as a whole and love the growth and vibrancy it is experiencing. We knew it would be a great place to bring a new boutique fitness concept that offers fast, body shaping results and long-term postural benefits.
Capitol Hill is home to a variety of alternative workout options from the healthy young people you see running through the streets of Pike/Pine carrying large heavy objects over their head as part of a (CHS Sponsor) Foundation Crossfit workout to the legions of bootcamp groups that you can find in the parks early on weekday mornings doing crazy things like crawling on their bellies through the grass.
Barre3 is planned to open in Fall 2010.
I’m glad to hear that the space at the corner of 12th & Madison will finally be filled. And Barre3 sounds like a great fit in the neighborhood.
I’ll note, however, that while Tavern Law and Barre3 are in the Trace Lofts condo building, Barrio, Fleurish::Orchidee and Local Vine are actually in the Trace North condo next door.
Thanks Matt – corrected above
As someone who has separately practiced all three of these forms of art/exercise, it’s interesting to think of them combined. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip.
Very excited to try this! Can’t wait until the pre-opening classes start!!
