Pride 911 update — Plus, Blotter: Louisville Slugger vs. belt fight lands man in jail

It’s been a seemingly mostly peaceful Pride weekend thus far on Capitol Hill with no major crime or 911 incidents to report through Sunday morning. We’ve heard reports of a few drunken assaults, a burglary arrest and a woman throwing a rock through a window at the Broadway Bank of America.

Police did respond to monitor a crowd of about 300 that gathered in the streets of Pike/Pine just after midnight and marched up 10th to Pine and then up Nagle before climbing the stairs to Broadway early this morning.

There were reports of blocked traffic and some people jumping on cars but the situation sounded like mostly a good time. Around 12:35 AM, officers ordered the crowd to disperse. At that point, the march turned back south and back into Pike/Pine producing noise and 911 calls. By 1:15 AM, most had drifted away and back into the bars and clubs. Good times.

UPDATE: Here’s a video of some of the marching going on in Pike/Pine last night from @corego. This footage shows 12th Ave. Don’t know how this fits into the timeline described above. Cops arrive to corral the crowd around the 5 minute mark. Like we said, good times.

For something more interesting on the crime beat, we delve into the blotter reports to find out what’s been going down on the streets of the East Precinct.

We don’t typically just turn over the reins on something like this but unwinding the whole sordid affair is beyond our capacity as news gatherers. All we know is that these two heavily redacted Seattle Police Department reports describe the same late night Monday incident — Report #1 documents the assault on a “victim” who says he was attacked by men who used their belts as weapons. Meanwhile, Report #2 documents that same “victim” who told police he went home to grab his Louisville Slugger after getting hit with the belts but didn’t hurt anybody with the bat despite evidence to the contrary. Both reports document the fact that the “victim” ended up in King County Jail on investigation of assault.

Jumping on cars is not a good time for the owners of those cars.
