We had received a tip that Tyler Moritz and Aleks Dimitrijevich were hard at work designing and rennovating the Chez Gaudy space at 1802 Bellevue Avenue. Jessica Voelker of Seattle Metropolitan bring us news that their new venture will be called La Bete (The Beast), and that it “will have a casual, neighborhood feel with snacks, a small plates section that will include pork belly, oysters and crudos, and a family-style menu with whole Dungeness crab, roast chickens, and leg of lamb.” Both Moritz and Dimitrijevich worked under the guidance of Ethan Stowell at Union. Moritz has also worked under Jonathan Sundstrom of Lark and Scott Simpson of the short-lived but critically-acclaimed Fork.
I’m glad to hear something is going to be in the space and that we won’t have more vacant retail, but the menu just sounds really depressing… what a shame.
I agree – yuk.
