Wine bar moving onto 12th Ave

There goes one empty retail space. Seattle condo blog urbnlivn reports that the former home of Pizza Fusion is about to be reactivated. Trace Lofts developer Ted Schroth tells urbnlivn that Belltown wine bar The Local Vine is slated to move into the 1412 12th Ave location and will be open by end of summer/early fall. On its Web site, The Local Vine calls itself ‘your neighborhood wine bar’:

Located on the corner of 2nd and Vine Street in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood, The Local Vine offers a comfortable place to enjoy wine, food and friends. Serving more than 100 wines by the glass along with a selection of small plates for sharing and free wi-fi, guests can learn about and enjoy wine in a relaxing environment.

The Local Vine was created by Allison Nelson and Sarah Munson, two Harvard Business grads, according to this early write-up by the Seattle Times. The bar’s food menu is created by a chef with a Capitol Hill-area connection, Jason Wilson of Crush. The Belltown edition of TLV is liked OK by Web reviewers who have been giving it a solid three stars lately. While there are plenty of places to grab a glass of wine and a snack on Capitol Hill, the new bar will join only CHS advertiser Poco Wine Room on the roster of food and drink venues that make wine their focus.

As for Pizza Fusion, the ‘green’ concept pizza restaurant went bust after only four awkward months on 12th Ave. You can review a kinda sweet ‘goodbye’ comment thread on the post as people pondered the passing of a CHS advertiser.

I can’t tell if The Local Vine is moving its operations to The Hill or is just opening another location. In either case, I am delighted. They offer fantastic wine courses.

The Local Vine really is the best place to enjoy and learn about wine in Seattle. Looks like I’ll be making more trips to Capitol Hill…

We haven’t talked to the Local Vine folks but plan to soon. In meantime, I’d assume they are opening 2nd location. But we’ll ask.

All signs point to the fact that this is a second location.

Please note that Chef Jason Wilson was the consulting chef when the bar opened, however the current menu is designed and executed by the very talented Chef Jon Maley.

Just read in the Times….the building The Local Vine is at in Belltown needs to be torn down (its only 9 years old) so 12th will be their only location.
