Last (easy) day to register to vote

Today is the deadline for online or by-mail voter registration for the November election. It is supposed to be the last easy day for you to register but as of 9:45 AM, the state’s online registration site is down. We’ll give them a call to see what’s up but you might want to look into getting a stamp and downloading the paper form. After today, you’ll have to do in-person registration by October 26th to have your vote included.

UPDATE:
Spokesperson for the Secretary of State’s office told CHS that the online registration site’s outage is due to a problem on the Department of Licensing side of things — registering uses information from driver’s license system, apparently — and that they are working to restore service. The spokesperson said they expect online registration to be available again later today.

That could explain why I could not update my registration online, due to the DOL having issues. I tried to update about 7-8am this morning, long before the 9:45 time. So perhaps it was going downhill fast.

I used the ZIP code on my Driver’s License, as well as my current and former ZIP code where I am currently registered to vote (Tacoma, now in Seattle) and all said it was invalid.

So hmm.

If you are a person disposed to doing things like attending park groundbreakings, running around and frolicking in parks, collapsing in states of giddy hysteria over the idea of more parks, rolling around on the ground giggling and touching yourself all over when you hear parks are being constructed, etc., you have been given a 1-month extension to the registration deadline and there is no need to register by today. Thank you.
