What happens on Capitol Hill in August? Here's a look back at August 2008 from the CHS archives.

• Trees were falling. Sound familiar?
• Cap Hill hosted the Gay Softball World Series
• There were goats
• And Toobs
• And faeries
• And a dinosaur
• And a controversial billboard at the base of the Hill
• It rained a lot
• A bunch of people parked on 14th Ave E got ticketed but then forgiven
• Somebody tried a passive aggressive approach to curbing graffiti
• Capitol Hill had zero dedicated ice cream shops
• But we had armed street thuggery
• CHS added paid advertising. This is, basically, the one-year anniversary of our life as a business.
• Now-CHS sponsor Vino Verite opened its doors
• There were National Night Out parties
• A plan to redevelop the area where the Broadway farmers market is held was discussed and, later, scuttled. FYI, another plan is going to be brought up again in coming weeks. History repeats.
