It's a trap! Cap Hill pic trending on Reddit

You get a sense of what a small Internet it really is when you see your neighborhood street corner being discussed by the trend-sucking masses. Here's theReddit IT'S A TRAP! thread talking about this picture of Republican at Broadway.

Not really sure I totally get the joke and who is being trapped. You can check out the Reddit commentary but it, per usual, winds its way around semi-related topics without really getting anywhere. Anybody here care to offer your interpretation?

Republican trap
I'm guessing the trap (and the attempted joke) is that this is Republican St. and yet there is a sign welcoming gay people.

Someone did try to fix this
I met a woman (union organizer, as I recall) about 15 years ago who had petitioned the City of Seattle to change the name of Republican Street to "Non-Partisan Street". The City had refused her petition but Jim Diers did present her with her own personal copy of a Non-Partisan Street sign.

Perhaps it's time to try again,,,,,,,,

Maybe the joke is that the church (with the pretty rainbow banner) is supposed to be welcoming Republicans. It's a bit of a stretch joke-wise but it is a nice picture.
