Here's as-it-happened coverage of the Cal Anderson Independence Day picnic pie eating contest. A few hundred have trickled through the park's festivities on one of the sunniest Seattle 4th of July in memory.

... great event, fun, laid back, tons of kids
Three cheers for the Cal Anderson event. Good music, things to do, and tons of kids.

Love the community feel, they need a giant flag somewhere ... maybe a couple of veterans on stage for short speeches.

Free pop, but no diet .. some us just don't do sugar. Oh well.
