Rom Mai Thai Renovated and Reopened

Here is what the renovated and reopened (as of two weeks ago) Rom Mai Thai (CHS Reviews) looks like – pretty close to the architectural rendering (photo by JoshMahar).  No takers yet on the retail space demarcated at right.  Seattlest’s MVB enjoyed a 5-piece lunch for $7.95 there, earlier today.

That one comes with the bathing rama. Which is how I like my rama. Bathing. The staff is nicely solicitous, the food…pretty good. Just one meal, obviously. But I liked it!

I just walked by this finished building last evening, and I must say, they did a fantastic job. Kudos to the owners who removed the false front to bring back and restore much of the old Terra Cotta work. I love the old facades of buildings, and I’m always glad when the ‘remuddled’ work is removed.

This is a prime example of a local property owner getting it right. She kept (and enhanced) the beauty of the original building and kept a fine tenant in the Thai place. It sounds like the retail piece is going to be really exciting, too! When developers and landlords are plugged in to the neighborhood discussions we all win.

Walked over for lunch the other day. So glad it’s done (and the employees told me they are, too). Yummmm. It’s a lovely space now, really looks nice with the rest of the building (rather than the bright yellow facade before).
