Ex-Crave Chef Auditions For Top Chef

Nancy Leson has a fun story on the Top Chef auditions that took place at Canlis last week.  I would love it if Robin Leventhal, late of Crave, would turn up on my favorite reality show.  BTW this season, does anyone think that Stefan can be beat?

…then people will jump on and start harshing on Crave. I’m gonna pre-empt them and say I really liked it there, and I’m bummed that they lost their space. They did a lot of local and organic food, and I always thought they were friendly and down-to-earth. I wish Robin well!

I only went there once but the food was great. Would be cool to see a local chef on TC.

WRT Stefan — his salmon WAS overcooked, after all….. but he’s formidable.

I loved Crave and ate there quite regularly. Robin is a wonderful chef and always made me feel very welcome and was clearly delighted to feed people good, local, seasonal foods. I think it’s great to see her going for something like this. I do hope she’ll eventually resurface with another restaurant in town. Man, I miss that goat cheese gnocchi.

I can’t tell you how much i A. am sad that Crave is no more, especially due to how it went down. but B. am so tremendously touched by your support and appreciation of what i did in that little place we called home for 5 years. I am glad your one meal was yummy pffft. And I love the way you stuck up for me Uncle Vinny, and that you and Maika were the reason i do what i do, so THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and i hope that you get to watch me do my thing on that “not so little silver screen” as Nancy Leson so generously put it!
In the mean time i am doing a 5 course duck dinner this Sunday at Culinary Communion http://www.culinarycommunion.com/muse.shtml
So if you love duck and want to eat my food again, here is a perfect opportunity. It is partial instruction but will be primarily an eating experience. The only thing that matters in then end is that we evolve with each experience and Crave was HUGE part of my life and will be carried into what ever i find myself doing next! Also feel free to submit your e-mail address to be updated in my food journey and i will happily add you to my work in progress e-mail list.

Robin, DeWitt & I miss you soooo. We don’t know where to go on Tuesday nights, especially with me in scrubs. My son & I are taking one of “the series classes” at culinary communion. Last Wednesday (class night) I saw your name. I got so excited. Then I found out from Tom I missed it. The story of my life. He said you even made the famous brussels sprouts. DeWitt wants me to make them tonight. I am not sure I can remember how to make them your way. See it really is safe to give your recipes away. People like me can never remember anyway. I think Tom (of Culinary Communion) was wishing I would shut up about you. He was probably just feeling envious of you and your fame. I can see that you are your usual whirl wind self and have left your little foot prints every where. I would love to get together. We never did get to have dessert together, remember? XOXO Debbie
