Wine and beer tasting @ QFC

The Broadway Market QFC is having a wine/beer tasting today until 8pm. I noticed this setup about a month ago... apparently it's back by popular demand.

$2 gets you into the cornered off area in the wine section upstairs. Featured wine/beer is sold at a discount. Proceed benefit a local organization (I didn't catch which one).

Fine for $2 I suppose
I'd rather donate to a charity of my choice. "Why the two bucks?" I asked them-- "to keep out the bums" was the answer (ah, too late, as they didn't keep me away.) The tasting choices were fine, but nothing special. There's free tastings elsewhere. But the thing that gets me is QFC's approach-- say it's "on sale" but have it marked up more than usual to begin with. For example, one of the wines at the QFC tasting I later found for less at that newer wine shop, Vino Verite. Anytime I see a yellow sale price tag on a wine at QFC, I notice that the "sale" price is regular price from what I have researched. And I'm not going to lie, I've fallen for the "Sale" sticker there plenty of times, but always come to find later that it wasn't a sale price at all. When will I learn? (This economy of late is helping teach me, that's for sure.)
